I was so excited when I got an email from Christie asking if I would take engagement pictures for her and Matt. I've known these two since high school (even though I hadn't seen them in a few years) and they are as cute today as they were when they started dating (9 years ago)! It was so refreshing to see a couple that is so in love that we had a few little happy tears when asked to look into each others eyes.
We had quite the adventure and a little bad luck the first day we met up to capture some images. The rain decided it couldn't hold off another hour for us so after hitting up one of my favorite locations in Andover we headed towards some indoor locations downtown. When we got to the first location, a museum that I had been told by another photogo was a great place for indoor photos we learned that, of course, they were closed. (Trying to get out of the parking garage was an adventure in-itself. When a machine states that it takes Visa shouldn't it in fact take Visa?) Luckily the rain wasn't so bad that we were getting distorted photos so we dug out the clear umbrella and we headed out in front of the museum. Apparently we were standing where we shouldn't have been because out of nowhere we hear this loud foghorn type sound and look up to see surveillance cameras pointed our way. Needless to say we booked it. Oops! Next, we headed toward the sculpture gardens. I did like how those really captured the Minneapolis feel & loved how the rain made a pretty little backdrop on the umbrella. And because of the rain, Christie & Matt, you are the first people that have seen my naturally curly hair in a very long time, feel special! We ended our first day in the Guthrie. So glad we caught some cute silhouettes and cuddly type shots, it turned out to be a great location choice. I guess I never realized its the type of place people have business meetings or meet up with friends to do a little homework. I will definitely take clients there in the future if we need an indoor location.
We decided to do a second day because the first had been riddled with things going wrong and bad weather, plus we had to be positive these two love birds had some amazing images to display at their wedding. So we met in Big Lake because it has a big lake (Who'd a thunk? Ha ha) and prayed for some beautiful weather. Too bad it was so cold poor Matt and Christie were shaking in their boots, literally, and my fingers were so cold they were stiff for hours after. We managed to get some great shots of this beautiful couple before we had to call it a day. As we were finishing it we started to see snowflakes, luckily they stopped as quickly as they started. And, of course, a couple hours later is was gorgeous outside. Guess that's the way the cookie crumbles, eh?
All in all we were able to capture some great images that I hope C&M will be proud to show off at their wedding :) BTW, I left a ton of our silly mishaps out just so I don't bore those who just want to get to the pictures but I have to say it was one of the more adventure filled shoots I've done to date.
Without further ado please enjoy the pictures!
Sorry if that was picture overload... I just loved too many from C&M's session.
Congrats you two! I wish you all the best for a long long long life of happiness! Hopefully Ill be photographing your babies next ;) Haha.
